USAID Mentorship Program Helps Kazakhstan Women Entrepreneurs Expand into New Markets

Footnotes As part of USAID’s Future Growth Initiative Project, DevCIT, a leading entrepreneurs’ support organization in Kyrgyzstan, coordinated an international virtual mentorship and business acceleration program for entrepreneurs from Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. Over the course of two months, 34 experienced private sector representatives provided guidance to 61 women entrepreneurs on running their own businesses and growing their enterprises sustainably. The program included expert business support for participants in the form of training and consultations, as well as professional psychological assistance to work through individual fears and barriers impacting professional development, life vision, and managing personal and business growth. During the final Demo Day, the three most successful mentees and the three mentors who showed the best results were awarded the “Best Mentee” and “Best Mentor” awards, respectively. As a result of the initiative, 34 companies demonstrated a two-fold increase in revenue within two months since the start of the program.
